The 4,000 acres of Barton Creek are located 15 minutes southwest
of downtown Austin on the edge of the Texas Hill Country. Green,
rolling hills and a multitude of area lakes make the Hill Country not
only a popular vacation destination, but a superb year-round home.
Today's Barton Creek community consists of more than a dozen luxurious
residential neighborhoods and the renowned Barton Creek Resort and Club.
In 1994 Stratus purchased 4,000 acres of Hill Country land on the
southern banks of Barton Creek, and took action to ensure permanent
conservation by donating it to the Texas Nature Conservancy. The Barton
Creek Preserve now serves to enhance regional water quality and also to
protect the habitat of endangered species including the Golden Cheeked
Warbler and the Black Capped Vireo.
Most property purchased in the Barton Creek community includes a
Property Owners Social Membership at the Barton Creek Country Club.
Privileges include swimming, dining, club social events and use of the
Spa and Fitness Center.
The golf courses, designed by Tom Fazio, Arnold Palmer and Ben
Crenshaw, are a tribute to the game and the unique terrain of the Hill
Country. Consistent recipients of awards and distinctions, the golf
courses at Barton Creek have been honored by Golf Digest, Golf
Magazine, Golfweek/Golf & Travel, and Conde Nast Traveler magazines
and have received high rankings in the Dallas Morning News annual Best
in Texas Golf survey. The Barton Creek Golf Institute includes the Golf
Advantage School, Short Game Academy, Private Lessons and personal Club
Fitting Sessions.
